Established in 1928, we’re one of the most respected independent agencies serving North Birmingham and beyond, specialising in residential sales, lettings, and property management. A Legacy of Trust

Our story began with Harry E. Wadsworth, a developer and chartered surveyor who founded the company in 1928. During the Second World War, Harry and his team worked tirelessly to rehouse families displaced by bombing raids, a defining moment that established our reputation for care and community commitment.

In the late 1960s, Harry’s son John S. Wadsworth expanded the business to include sales, lettings, and valuations, building a strong foundation of professionalism and reliability.

By 1998, the next generation, James C. Wadsworth joined the family business, bringing fresh ideas, modern thinking and a drive to grow. Under his leadership, Wadsworth & Co rapidly expanded its property management portfolio and strengthened its standing across the North Birmingham area.


Adapting, Evolving, Thriving

Like many long-standing firms, Wadsworth & Co has faced its share of challenges from the 2008 financial crisis to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. These events ultimately led to the relocation of the business to Lichfield in 2023. Throughout these difficult times, James’s unwavering positivity, adaptability, and leadership ensured that the company not only survived but continued to thrive.

James’s journey reflects the values that define Wadsworth & Co today: professionalism, perseverance, and a passion for property. Alongside running the business, James also pursued professional development, earning a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management and gaining valuable expertise in building pathology and valuation. Although early ambitions to achieve RICS accreditation were deferred due to business demands, James persevered and later qualified through the SAVA School of Surveying and Valuation in 2015. 

Balancing family life and business growth, James continues to uphold the Wadsworth legacy, a commitment to integrity, quality, and client satisfaction that spans generations.
